A US toddler has been killed after accidentally shooting herself while apparently mistaking a gun for a Nintendo Wii video game controller.
Cheyenne McKeehan, 3, picked up the pistol from a living room coffee table and fired it into her abdomen while her mother sat a few feet away, the Tennessean reported.
The girl, from rural Tennessee, had learned to fire a gun from playing a Nintendo Wii game with a special gun-shaped controller, a statement from the Wilson County Sheriff's office said.
Sheriff Terry Ashe said parents need to make sure they keep guns out of reach of children, especially considering the similarity between the Wii controller and an actual handgun.
"If you have a live handgun and a toy that looks the same — for parents some bells and whistles need to go off," he said.
"You can see by the comparison of the toy weapon and the real weapon that there's little chance a three-year-old would differentiate between the two."
The semi-automatic handgun belonging to Cheyenne's father Douglas Cronberger was normally left in a cabinet but had been loaded and left out after he thought he heard a prowler.
When he came back inside, Mr Cronberger left the gun on the table and went to bed, reports said.
Cheyenne was pronounced dead soon after her arrival at hospital.
After reading this news article online, really made me think. Game consoles are bringing out so much stuff to make playing the games so realistic, but are they going to far.
I know this happened in America, but whos to say the same thing wouldnt happen here. Wii have brought out all the attachments to put onto the wii controller to make it feel like your actually holding the gun or the golf stick. They are making the game more real i suppose, but are they making it to real.
There is also the issue of the parent leaving the gun lying out. How many parents just leave things lying around the house that toddlers can get a hold of, even drugs and alcohol. Kids are alot different from what they were 10 years ago, in my opinion there exploring things alot more.
I think the gaming world need to be careful how intense and real they make there games and also, parents need to me more cautious of what there leaving lying around, especially around toddlers.
How many other kids are at risk of dying?....

Stealing...
Why do people steal? especially from an op-shop. The other day at work we had a guy walk straight out with a massive air cooler in his hands and walked as fast as he could with this bulky thing in his arms (looked pretty funny) Shella ran after him and stopped him, asking him what he thought he was doing, he said he thought it was free. Not only is he stealing which is wrong, he is stealing from a salvo op shop which the money made goes into helping the local community. I dont wanna judge but he wasnt your most well dressed or smartest looking person so for all we know he may need help from the salvos some day, so hes robbing himself of that by stealing. We did get the air cooler back and Shella warned him that she would call the cops if he did it again as we have him on camera stealing. We also have young kids coming in through a hole in the back fence and stealing out of the trailer which is full of rubbish. We've also had problems with their dad so what hope do the kids have? It breaks my heart to think that kids as young as 8 are stealing, and rubbish of all things. Where do they get the thought to steal from? or Who? Do they not realise how much trouble it could get them into, not only now but in the future when they are older. I wish there was more i could do for kids like them, but they do it that often maybe it is all they know or have been taught....

New Years Resolution :D
Well ive never really set a new years resolution cause ive always seemed to think people dont stick to them, there a waste of time.
Well this year i set one in place i am not eating take away (except subway salads) all year and i am getting fit. running on the treadmill half an hour everyday and considering joining manda, shella and dans gym. :D i am quite xcited and a little unsure at the same time, but well see.
So far i have stuck to no take away havnt even had a subway salad, i havnt hit the treadmill or the gym yet as i have had a severe throat infection so havnt felt up to it, but im planning on getting strict next week. I am already feeling good about myself and i think its simply because i have a possitive attitude towards it and thats all you need.
So i am looking forward to the journey, it will be a tough one i think but i am ready for it. Getting fit and healthy here i come....ive already lost 6 kilos this year so something must be working..

Priorities
I was just reading a friends blog about being evacutaed for fires and what he would take with him. Would it be his computer with photos or bible, and wether he has his priorities right. It really made me wonder how many of us actually have our priorities right especially when it comes to God. I mean I for one always put others first before myslef, but my question is do i ever put God first before myself. I think theres so many of that in times of destress say being evacuated would go into panic mode which is only normal but maybe we need to just relax and have faith in God that he will make a way. Like walking out of your house which is being threatened by fire, would grabbing your bible be sufficient for people knowing that in seconds you could lose everything, but yet in your hand is the one thing that should matter most. God knows whats gonna happen to us all before it happens, he knows every word that is going to leave our mouth before we have even spoken it. Maybe its just a matter of trying to deal with the situation and leaving it in Gods hands cause at the end of the day, if you have a strong faith Gods in control of everything you do. Just makes me think how many of us would actually grab our bible when the situation actually happens or would you grab your mobile or laptop.....
Let me know what you all think :D
